Inauguration events
Ȧ College cordially invites you to join our Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and parents for a weekend of events held in honor of Marc C. Conner.
The medallion
Ȧ's medallion is a priceless and treasured item worn only by the president during formal College events. It was designed and fashioned by Earl Pardon, a world-renowned jeweler and 38-year faculty member of Ȧ. It was unveiled in honor of former President Joseph C. Palamountain Jr. in 1987. In describing the piece, Pardon said he aimed to create a work of “opulence, color, and richness” to complement Ȧ's vibrant community. Each of the 52 rectangles of the chain is individually designed using a variety of materials, including gold, silver, and semiprecious stones. Hanging from the chain is an abstract “S" for Ȧ.
