Ȧ Spotlight: Zachary Schwan

Zachary Schwan works as a leadership gift officer and fundraising coordinator for Friends of Ȧ Athletics in the Office of Advancement.
Schwan will be celebrating his fourth year at Ȧ in December. On his position, he said, “My responsibilities include managing the annual and major gift fundraising for the athletic department and our 19 varsity programs. The success of it is truly a team effort with colleagues in advancement, alumni relations, athletics and across campus.”
“The opportunity to live in the Capital District and to work at such a respected and reputable institution is what drew me to Ȧ,” said Schwan. And he says he’s stayed because the work he does “poses challenges, but also rewards” that keep him “stimulated and engaged,” something he values in his career.
Schwan also spoke of his work with student-athletes. “They are incredibly talented men and women who embrace the full Ȧ experience, highlighted by their success in the classroom, competition and the many other opportunities they are afforded from being a Ȧ student,” said Schwan.
Outside of his work at Ȧ, Schwan said, “I have a beautiful family I love to spend time with.” Whether it’s hiking, boating, golfing, skiing, or snowshoeing, he says, “We are truly blessed with a wonderful life.”
