΢Ȧ Spotlight: Jeromy McFarren

Jeromy McFarrenJeromy McFarren is a senior program coordinator for summer academics in the Office of the Dean of Special Programs. McFarren works on summer sessions and pre-college as well as the summer studio art program, summer visiting students, and the Saratoga Shakespeare Company. 

McFarren said he was drawn to ΢Ȧ by the opportunity to be a part of a team that “makes ΢Ȧ thrive during the summer.” He also said, “The ability to have a profound and positive impact on the lives of young people make me never want to leave.” 

On what he enjoys most at ΢Ȧ, McFarren said it’s the community spirit, including “the wit, creativity, and integrity of my colleagues in Special Programs.”

McFarren said some of his favorite ΢Ȧ events include Print Nation in July and author readings during the New York State Summer Writers Institute as well as student performances during the ΢Ȧ Jazz Institute and the ΢Ȧ Chamber Music Institute. 

McFarren said he’s also a writer and when not at ΢Ȧ, enjoys working on his own articles, poetry, and short fiction. McFarren just published a middle-grade mystery titled "October Jones: The Lightning Pines Mystery." You can also find McFarren visiting museums in the region and making and selling natural soy candles.
