I come from Mozambique, a country with one of the lowest literacy rates in the world. At ΢Ȧ, I'm gaining business and economics skills while raising funds to teach children to read, write, and count using interactive technology.

MY STORY

"My name is Naira Abdula, I am a sophomore student studying business and economics.

Starting my own non-governmental organization (NGO) was always a dream for me. The problem that I identified was the poor education quality in my country, Mozambique. To solve the problem, I created a program that teaches underprivileged children how to read, write and count using interactive technology and fun activities. My organization is running and we have 12 students.

I applied for ΢Ȧ's Freirich Business Competition because I wanted to reach out to more children. Our vision is that, one day, every child in Mozambique will have access to good and quality education.

I was initially planning to go to engineering school but I started to develop this passion for business and ΢Ȧ has a really nice business program. It was one of the main reasons why I chose to come here.

The other thing that I really like about ΢Ȧ is the support that they give to international students. Three and a half to four years ago I spoke no English at all. I’m always going to remember the support I received from the different offices at ΢Ȧ. I never expected to be in such a warm community as I am right now."
